Shoshik Shani passed away at the age of 91

The actress and singer Shoshik Shani passed away at the age of 91 after a battle with lung cancer.

She was one of Israel's leading actresses, with a career that spanned decades in theater, film, and television.

Shani became famous for her roles in films such as "Hole in the Moon," "Hunting Elephants," and "Operation Thunderbolt."

Many also remember her from her role as the miller's daughter in the musical "Rumpelstiltskin."

For years, she performed alongside her husband, singer and actor Arik Lavi. The two were considered one of the most well-known couples in Israeli culture. In recent years, she continued to perform in television series. In 2016, she won the Best Actress Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival for her role in the film "The Window."

Four years ago, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She chose not to undergo treatments. She had two daughters and several grandchildren.
