Cholesterol helps cancer cells move and spread to other organs.
The researchers tested the drug on several types of cancer. Among others, they tested breast cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer.
They observed that the cancer cells struggled to spread. They saw similar results in tests on female mice.
The researchers also analyzed medical data of cancer patients over nearly 20 years. They found that patients who used Viagra lived longer on average.
However, they emphasize that the research does not prove that Viagra is the reason for this.
Now the researchers want to conduct experiments on humans. Only after these tests will it be possible to know if Viagra can really also serve as a treatment for cancer.
