Israel and the United States attack Iran

On Saturday, Israel and the United States launched a joint attack against Iran.
The attack began in the early morning hours according to Israeli time.
Israel named the operation 'Lion's Roar.'
In the United States, it was called Epic Fury.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained that the goal of the attack is to eliminate the existential threat posed by the Iranian regime.
The strikes hit many cities in Iran, including Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, and more.

This morning, Iran confirmed that the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in the attack. Many other senior officials in Iran's security apparatus were also eliminated, including the Defense Minister, the Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, and the Chief of Staff. This is a very severe blow to the Iranian regime.
Iran responded forcefully. The regime launched dozens of ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel and American bases in the region, including in Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Iran also struck civilian targets in the Gulf, including a hotel in Dubai and a residential building in Bahrain. In Israel, sirens were heard across the country, including in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa. The air defense systems intercepted most of the missiles. But one missile made a direct hit on Tel Aviv. One woman was killed and more than 20 people were injured.
The Home Front Command instructed all Israeli citizens to stay close to protected areas. All schools were closed. Hospitals switched to emergency mode and moved patients to underground floors. Many Israelis spent the Sabbath running between shelters, but they kept their spirits high. In some shelters, snacks were distributed, jokes were made, and songs were sung together.
President Trump gave a speech. He said the purpose of the operation is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to remove the threat to the United States. Trump called on the Iranian public to stay in their homes. He said: 'Do not leave your homes. It is very dangerous outside. When we are finished, take over the government. This will likely be your only opportunity.'
